In a medium saucepan, melt the butter in the evoo
- 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 scallions, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups vegetable stock or low sodium broth
- Pinch of Saffron threads
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
Black Licorice Brownies

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted buter, melted, plus more for brushing
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 Tbsp licorice root powder
- 2 tsp ground anise seeds
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped soft black licorice chews (3oz)
Sesame Miso Ginger Dressing

Place all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until thoroughly blended
- 2 inches fresh ginger, grated (if you really love ginger, add a tsp of ginger powder)
- 3 Tbsp miso (if you really love miso, add a Tbsp or two, one at a time, and taste
- juice of 1 lime
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 4 Tbsp honey
- 3 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 4 Tbsp rice vinegar
Apple Coffee Cake

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- 2/3 cups unsalted butter, chopped
- 1 cup superfine sugar
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour, sifted
- 3/4 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 granny smith apple, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon

- 8 Tbsp (1 stick) sweet butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- grated zest of 2 oranges
- 1 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Shrimp Fried Rice

1. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 1/4 cups water to a boil
- 1 1/2 cups long grain rice, rinsed and drained
- kosher salt
- 7 Tbsp vegetable oil, divided
- 12 raw medium shrimp, peeled, deveined and chopped
- 5 medium eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
- 3 Tbsp light soy sauce

- FOR THE CRUST:
- Butter, for the the tart pan
- 1/2 cup blanched almonds, lightly toasted
- 2 teaspoons anise seeds
- 1 cup all purpose flour, plus more as needed
- 6 Tbsp (1/4 stick) unsalted butter, very cold, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten with 1 Tbsp cold water
- FOR THE CUSTARD:
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 4 fresh sage laves
- 1 tsp anise seeds, crushed
