- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons apple pie spice
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (3 1/4 ounces) vegetable shortening (trans-fat free)
- 4 cups (12 ounces) peeled, chopped apples (about 1 pound before peeling)
- 1 cup (4 ounces) walnuts, chopped
- Brown Sugar Frosting
- 5 tablespoons (2 1/2 ounces) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup (3 1/4 ounces) firmly packed brown sugar (light or dark)
- 3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) milk
- 1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
White Chocolate Macadamia Brownies

Preparation Preheat oven to 350°F
- 6 ounces fine-quality or premium white chocolate, chopped
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup macadamia nuts, toasted lightly and chopped coarse
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 325. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (long time) Add eggs and vanilla to butter mixture

Braised Sirloin Tips Over Rice

Brown beef in hot oil. Mix together and add bouillon, wine, garlic, onion, soy sauce and mushrooms

- 2 pounds beef sirloin or round steak sliced into 3 inch strips
- 2 bouillon cubes dissolved in water and mushroom juice to equal 10 1/2 ounces
- 1/3 cup Burgundy or Cranberry Juice
- 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 2 cloves mince garlic
- 2 Tablespoons diagonally slice green onions 1 can (4 1/2 ounce) mushrooms
- 1 can water chestnuts
- 1 package Chinese Pea Pods
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 4 cups hot cooked rice

- 2 cups Special K in coarse crumbs (1 cup)

- 3/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
