1. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a medium size mixing bowl
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons shortening (or lard)
- 1/2 cup very warm water
Apple and Cinnamon Phyllo Tartlets

Directions Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C)
- 6 phyllo pastry sheets, each measuring at least 9 ½ inches
- 1 oz (25 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 dessert apples, halved, cored and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) of caster sugar
- ½ tsp (7 mL) ground cinnamon
- 4 tbsp (60 mL) of Greek yogurt (optional)
Beefy Tomato Macaroni Soup

In a large sauce pan or soup pot, brown ground beef, onion and garlic until ground beef is no longer pink
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 cups beef broth
- 1 - 26.46 oz can chopped tomatoes
- 1 - 26.46 oz can strained tomatoes
- 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 1/2 tsp steak seasoning
- 3 cups cooked elbow macaroni
- salt and pepper, as desired
Slow Roasted Whole Chicken

- 1 (about 4 – 6 pounds) whole chicken
- Half a lemon
- Half an onion
- Dried thyme
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

- 1-1/2 cups Cracker Barrel Shredded Old Cheddar Cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice, divided
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 lb. (900 g) Golden Delicious apples (about 4), thinly sliced
- 1 egg, beaten, divided
