- Starter
- 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1/4 ¼ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup milk
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 10 minutes.
- In a 2-quart glass, plastic or ceramic container, combine 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly or flour will lump when milk is added.
- Slowly stir in 1 cup milk and dissolved yeast mixture.
- Cover loosely and let stand until bubbly. Consider this day 1 of the 10 day cycle.
- Leave loosely covered at room temperature.

- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated

- 2 cans cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom (or both)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1/2 cup flour

My Famous Marinade for Vegetables

This is an old recipe of mine
- Marinade:
- 3 cups salad oil
- 1 cup white wine vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
- 1 # fresh young green beans
- 1 head cauliflower
- 1 1/2 # zucchini
- 2 # small carrots
- 1 head fresh broccoli
- Fresh asparagus
- 6 medium ripe tomatoes, cut in half
- Lettuce
- Can also include fresh whole mushrooms. If serving as an appetizer platter, include olives, mozzarella, etc.
- Salt
- Boiling water
