- 6 cups light bread, toasted and cubed (about 10 slices, depends on type of bread used) *see note below
- 1 cup light italian turkey sausage (I like this kind)
- 1 large onion (or 2 shallots), chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tsp dried poultry seasoning (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, (or to taste)
- 1 Granny Smith Apple, cut into small cubes (or 1 Pear, cubed)
- 1 can (14.5 oz) chicken broth
- 1 egg
- Optional: 1 cup white mushrooms, sliced, or 1/4 cup Craisins!
- Note: You may toast bread cubes in a 325 degree oven by placing bread cubes on a baking sheet, and baking for 15 minutes or until bread is toasted. Or you may leave the bread out overnight to dry out a bit.
