Norma's Pork Chops with Apples

- 6 pork chops (have your butcher cut 1/2 in. chops from a pork loin )
- 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- garlic salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 Tbsp ground cardamon
- 6 tart apples, sliced
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c port wine

- 1 1/2 cups canned crushed tomatoes with their juice
- 2 1/2 cups canned low-sodium chicken broth or homemade stock
- 1 2/3 cups drained and rinsed pinto beans (from one 15-ounce can)
- 1 2/3 cups drained and rinsed black beans (from one 15-ounce can)
