  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups of canola oil
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract
  • 1/2 cup of toasted pecans (optional)
  • 3 ounces of semisweet chocolate, chopped into coarse chunks
  • 1 1/2 cups of diced ripe bananas, about 2 bananas
  • Caramel:
  • 1/2 cup of firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of whole milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
