- 2 cups bran flakes
- 2 cups chopped dates

- 1/2 tsp cinnamon

- 5 tblsp butter
- 2 onions, thinly sliced( 4 cups)
- 2/3 cups red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 2 tblsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 2 lb chopped red cabbage
- 1 or 2 sliced golden apples
- 1/2 cup apple juice
