  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/4 tsp dill seed
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt

Bake at 350 °F for 30 minutes

  • Filling:
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 3/4 C quick cook oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 C flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 C brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Cream butter and sugar. Add sifted dry ingredients plus oatmeal. Pat 1/2 of the mixture into wax paper-lined 9 x 13 pan. Spread date filling on top and follow with remainder of oatmeal topping.
  • 1 # dates, pitted and cut in small pieces
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 C water
  • Cook on stove top to consistency of jam. Slightly cool before pouring over oatmeal crust.
