- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Flour, for dusting
- 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons sugar (recommended: turbinado)
- Vanilla bean ice cream or fresh whipped cream, for garnish
- 1 1/2 C flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 C (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces, chilled or frozen
- 4 to 6 T ice cold water
