Place a rack in the center position and preheat the 375 degrees
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon for skillet, room temperature.
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup light-brown sugar
- 1/4 cup plus 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 Granny Smith apples 3 Golden Delicious apples (or cans of apple pie)
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (if using fresh apples)
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon

- 1½ cups chopped yellow onions
