Ingredients

  • 1

    lb ground beef

  • 1

    cup chopped onion

  • 1/4

    cup chopped celery

  • 1

    can (15oz) chili con carne with beans

  • 1/4

    tsp pepper

  • 2

    cups corn chips, slightly crushed

  • 1

    cup shredded, sharp American cheese

Directions

Brown meat; add 3/4 cup of onion and the celery; cook until no longer pink and vegetables are tender. Drain off excess fat. Add canned chili and pepper. Place a layer of chips in ungreased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Alternate layers of chili mixture, chips and cheese, reserving 1/2 cup chips and 1/4 cup cheese. Sprinkle center with reserved 1/4 cup cheese and 1/4 cup onion. Cover and bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until hot through. To serve, sprinkle reserved corn chips around border of casserole.
