Buttermilk Biscuits & Sausage Gravy

Ingredients
- 2 c. self rising flour
- 1/4 c. Crisco Shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 3 T. all purpose flour
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1 1/3 c. milk
- 1/4 lb. pork sausage
- 2 T. butter
- 1/8 t. pepper

Preparation
Step 1
For Biscuits:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
1. Bend together the flour, shortening and salt until ingredients looks like coarse corn meal.
2. Add enough buttermilk to make the flour wet. Work together. Pour out and knead until smooth. You may need more flour to knead with.
3. Flatten dough out and using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits. Bake in the oven until biscuits rise and have browned a bit.
For Sausage Gravy:
1. Cook sausage until there is no pink in sight; drain if necessary.
2. Stir in flour, butter, salt and pepper.
3. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly and bring to a boil.
4. After gravy has been at a boil for about 2 minutes, stir and serve over biscuits.
