Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsps sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 egg yolks plus milk to fill cup to 2/3rds full
- ICING
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- thin cream (1/2 and 1/2) too make a runny icing

Preparation
Step 1
Mix dry ingredients and shortening as for pastry
Add milk and egg mixture. Mix well
Roll out half of dough onto bar pan - - can be patchy - makes it rustic looking!!
Fill with:
6 apples peeled sliced and sprinkle with 1 to 1 1/4 cups sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon
Roll out remaining dough and place on top of the apple mixture. Spread with egg white. Bake in a 10 x 13 pan at 400 for about 35 - 40 minutes or until brown.
When cooled drizzle on icing in a pattern
