Unstuffed Cabbage

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 pounds ground beef(I used 85%)
- 1 medium sized onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
- 1 can (28 oz) stewed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 cup Chinese parsley (Cilantro), chopped
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 small head cabbage, sliced, about 8 cups
- Served with mashed potatoes

Preparation
Step 1
Heat large nonstick saucepan over medium heat. Add beef and cook for 6 minutes until no longer pink. Stir occasionally. Drain fat. Stir in onion and cook 4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute.
Add tomatoes and paste. Using potato masher, break up the tomatoes. Stir in 1 1/4 cups water, parsley, salt, oregano, sugar, and black pepper and cabbage. Simmer covered for 2 minutes.
Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.
