- 8 medium cooking apples, each cut into fourths
- 1 C water
- 1 C packed brown sugar or 3/4 C granulated sugar
- 1/2 t cinnamon
- 1/4 t ground nutmeg
Heat apples and water to boiling over medium heat; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally to break up apples, until tender, 5-10 mins. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling and stir for 1 min.
