Ingredients

  • 2 3/4

    cups flour

  • 2 1/2

    teaspoons baking powder

  • 1

    t. baking soda

  • 1/2

    teaspoon salt

  • 2

    t. ground black pepper

  • 8

    tablespoons chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces

  • 6

    tablespoons buttermilk

  • 1 1/2

    cup cheddar cheese, grated

  • 10

    slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a food processor blend together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, pepper and salt. Add the butter. Add the buttermilk and pulse until combined. Add the cheese and bacon and pulse quickly until the dough holds together. Turn out onto a lightly floured board. Cut with a biscuit cutter into 8 pieces. Spray a baking sheet with vegetable oil, then transfer the pieces to the sheet. Bake the scones at 350 degrees for 14 minutes or until golden brown.
