Ingredients
- 1 lb potatoes, peeled, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup flour
- 6 8oz bottles clam juice
- 4 6 1/2 oz cans chopped clams with juices
- 1 tblsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 tsp chopped fresh thyme or 1/4 dried
- 1/2 tsp fresh marjoram or 1/4 tsp dried
- 1/2 tsp chopped fresh dill or 1/4 tsp dried
- 1/4 tsp powdered garlic
- 1/8 tsp liquid smoke
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 1 cup whole milk

Preparation
Step 1
Boil potatoes until just tender, about 6 minutes.Drain well. Melt butter in heavy large pot. Add celery and onion and saute until onion is translucent, about 6 minutes. Add flour and stir 2 minutes. Gradually mix in clam juice. Simmer until beginning to thicken, stirring frequently, about 2 minutes. Add clams with juices, parsley, thyme marjoram, dill, garlic, liquid smoke and potatoes. Simmer 5 minutes to blend flavors. Add cream and milk. Bring to simmer. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
