Easy peasy recipe using Devil's Food cake mix, chocolate covered cherries (Cherry Cordials), and Cool Whip.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil's Food cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare (I used Betty Crocker)
  • 15 chocolate covered cherries (cherry cordials), divided (I used Queen Anne, Dark Chocolate)
  • 1 (8-ounce) container Cool Whip

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare and bake the cake mix as directed on package for a 13x9-inch cake.

While the cake is still warm, push 12 of cherry cordials into the cake.

Set the cake on a wire rack and cool completely.

Spread Cool Whip over cake, then cut up the remaining 3 cherry cordials on top.

NOTE: It will serve better if you go ahead and cut the cake into squares BEFORE refrigerating because the cherries that are poked down in the cake will harden, making it impossible to slice through them.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate.
