Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 325°F. Generously grease a 12-cup fluted tube cake pan or Bundt pan.
Make cake batter as directed on box. Pour 1 cup of batter into 4 small bowls. Add 15 to 20 drops of orange food coloring to a bowl. Repeat with remaining food colorings. Pour the orange cake batter into the bottom of the pan. Pour the purple batter over the orange. Pour the black batter over the purple. Pour the green batter over the black. The layers do not need to cover each other. Do not mix with a spoon.
Bake as directed on the box.
Cool cake in the pan 5 minutes, then turn upside down on a cooling rack. Cool cake completely, about 30 minutes.
When the cake is cool, divide frosting evenly into 4 microwavable bowls. Microwave each bowl on High for 10 seconds until smooth enough to drizzle over the cake. Add 10 drops of orange food coloring into a bowl & stir. Repeat with remaining food colorings. With a small spoon, drizzle icing all over cake. Top cake with sprinkles, if desired.
