Homemade Apple sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs apples, any variety
  • Water
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Core and peel the apples. Put 1 inch of water in the bottom of a slow cooker, stir in the lemon juice and add the apples; toss to coat. Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or until apples are soft. Puree with a stick blender or in a food processor. Add sugar and ground cinnamon (if using) and heat on low just until the sugar is dissolved. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 6 months.
