Basil Tomato Spaghetti Sauce

Every year, I bottle tomatoes in the fall. The best tomato recipe I found was for Basil Tomatoes. It's a great tomato base you can use for many recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1

    Ib extra lean ground beef

  • 2

    cloves minced garlic

  • 1

    medium onion chopped

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1

    sm can mushrooms, don't drain the juice

  • 1 qt bottle basil tomatoes (check my library for recipe)

  • 1

    can garlic and olive oil tomatoes

  • 1

    sm can tomato paste

  • 1

    sm pkg thin spaghetti noodles (cooked as per package instructions)

  • beef stock, optional

Directions

In a large skillet, fry beef, onion, garlic, and salt and pepper. Brown until all liquid cooks off. Add mushrooms, including juice and cook for 5 minutes. Then add all tomato ingredients. Fill the empty tomato paste can with one can of water or beef stock. Mix well and simmer until the desired thickness. Serve over cooked noodles.
