Baked Macaroni and Cheese

I love all kinds of macaroni and cheese but this one is my favorite. If you are in a hurry, don't top with the reserved cheese and skip the baking. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 (32oz) package elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp salt or seasoned salt
  • 5 cups milk
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Romano cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375 F. Cook past according to package directions and drain.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter; stir in flour, mustard, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir until mixture thickens and slightly bubbles. Remove from heat. Add 2 cups of cheddar cheese, all of the Parmesan cheese, and all of the Romano cheese; stir until melted.

In large bowl, combine sauce with macaroni. Turn into greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Top with reserved 2 cups cheddar cheese.

Bake 40 min. or until lightly browned and bubbly. Let stand 10 min. before serving.
