Hot Beef Hero Sandwiches

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup catsup
• 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 tsp ground chili powder
• 6 slices bacon
• 1/2 lb lean ground beef
• 1 cup chopped onions
• 6 slices cheddar cheese
• 6 hero or sandwich buns, split

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375. Fry the bacon in a large skillet until crisp, remove and crumble. Set aside. Drain excess fat from the skillet and brown beef in same skillet. Drain excess fat from beef. Add the onions, catsup, mustard and seasonings and cook and stir for 2 minutes. Place each bun on a large square of foil. Place a slice of cheese on one side of each bun. Top with 2 Tbsp meat mixture and add bacon. Wrap securely in foil and bake for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
