Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced or whole
- 2 pounds top or bottom round steak, sliced into thin strips
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. marjoram
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 3/4 cup beef broth
- 1 1/2 cups red burgundy cooking wine

Step 1
Melt shortening in a skillet. Add veggies to skillet and sauté until tender. Remove the veggies from the oil. Add meat to pan and sprinkle with seasonings. In a small bowl, mix the flour and broth. Once the meat is browned, add this mixture to the pan. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Allow mixture to boil for one minute. Stir in wine. Cover and simmer until meat is tender. Liquid should be just enough to cover meat. When meat is tender, gently return veggies to skillet. Heat through and serve over white rice or egg noodles.
