Chicken or Turkey Broth

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lb chicken/turkey bones, parts or whole
  • 4 qt water
  • 3 tbs apple cider vinegar
  • 1 onion
  • Celery leaves
  • Chopped carrots
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • Fresh parsley sprigs
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt

Step 1

Put all ingredients in crock pot turn to low 8-10 hours or high 31/2-41/2 hours, cover and cook or bring slowly to a boil on range top, cover, lower heat and simmer 2-3 hours adding more water as needed to keep meat covered. Set a colander in a large bowl or pot and pour broth into bowl allowing meat, bones and vegetables to collect in the colander. Let meat cool about 30 minutes. Remove vegetables, skin. bone, and store meat as desired. Refrigerate broth to allow fat to rise to the top for easier removal. Use as desired or freeze in portions in freezer containers. When frozen, remove from containers and store in ziploc bags.
