Ingredients

  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and halved
  • 1 TBS butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 TBS minced shallots
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Dash of grated whole nutmeg
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch thick slices
  • 1/2 cup (2 oz) shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/4 cup (1 oz) grated fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 375F.

2. Rub a broiler-safe 11 x 7 baking dish with garlic; discard garlic. Coat dish with butter. Combine milk and next 5 ingredients (through potatoes) in skillet; bring to a simmer. Cook 8 minutes or until potatoes are almost tender. Spoon potato mixture into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 375F for 35 minutes.

3. Preheat broiler. Broil three minutes or until golden. Let stand ten minutes before serving.

Makes 6 servings. Each serving = 6 Weight Watchers points.
