Ingredients
- 2 Cups lentils
- 1 lb bacon
- 1 cup celery
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 Cup bacon grease
- 2 pkg Geo Washington broth
- salt and pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Soak 2 cups lentils in 6 cups water for 12 hrs or overnight.
Fry 1 lb bacon till crisp ( cut in 1" pieced before frying) Save bacon grease
In a large kettle add 12 cups water, lentils,diced onion,diced celery,1/2 cup bacon grease, fried bacon pieces. 2 pkg Geo Washington broth. salt and pepper.
Stir well and simmer for 3 hrs stirring occasionally.
Melt 2T bacon grease or butter and add 2 T flour. Add to soup slowly stirring.
Once boiling simmer for 1 hr.
Taste, add more salt, pepper or broth if needed( probably several more)
Can freeze
