Apple Pie in a Sack

  • Filling:
  • 2 unbaked, ready-made 9-inch piecrust
  • 4 pr 5 large baking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Topping:
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter



Step 1

Place pie crust in pie pan. Preheat oven to 425F.

Prepare apples and place in a large bowl. Make filling and sprinkle over apples. Toss to coat well. Put apple misture in pie shell and drizzle with lemon juice.

Make topping, cutting in butter. Sprinkle over apples and cover top with crust.

Place pie in a large brown bag and fold the end over. Fast with stamples. Place on cookie sheet and bake 1 hour at 425F. Do not peek! Split bag to remove pie and cool on rack.
