Ingredients

  • 5 med. tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 1/4 c. sugar divided
  • 1 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon divided
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat over to 400
In a bowl, combine apples, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon. Place in a greased 8x8 baking dish. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and remaining sugar, cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Press down to smooth top.
Slowly pour water over the top and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon. Bake uncovered for 40 mins or so until apples are tender.
Serve warm. makes 8 servings
to double the recipe use 9x13 pan and bake 60 mins or so.
