Ingredients

  • 10

    lbs. lean ground beef

  • 10

    c. diced onion

  • 7

    c. diced green pepper

  • c. sugar

  • 1

    bottle Worcestershire sauce

  • A scant ⅓ cup of salt

  • ¼ to ⅓

    c. black pepper

  • One

    8 oz. container of tomato paste

  • 8 to 10

    quarts fresh stewed tomatoes (the more the better!)

  • One

    No. 10 can of Pinto Beans

  • One

    No. 10 and half of another can of No. 10 Chili Beans

  • A scant 8 oz. of chili powder (mixture of hot and medium)

  • Five or six

    bay leaves (removed before serving)

Directions

Brown meat first. Mix all other ingredients together and then add to brown meat mixture. Cook about three (3) hours. Father Harvey retired in 2013 as the longest-serving pastor in St. John’s history. We remain grateful for his many years of dedicated service to the parish, to the diocese, to Fenton, and of course to Applefest. We love you Father Harvey!
