Mom's "Tuna" Cookies

I call these Tuna cookies because the topping of egg whites and ground walnuts resembles tuna fish.

Ingredients
- 1 lb butter
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 8 tbs sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 3 egg whites
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Ground walnuts

Preparation
Step 1
Combine butter, sugar, and flour until coarse pea-sized pieces form. Add yolks and the whole egg and vanilla. Roll out on floured board and cut with desired cookie cutter shape.
Beat egg whites then use knife to spread on cookies.
Dip cookies into ground walnuts mixed with 3 or 4 tbs sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees for 5 - 8 minutes.
