Chinese Broccoli

I bought a huge bunch of Chinese broccoli at the asian market on the way home from work this week and experimented with the following recipe:

Ingredients
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds Chinese broccoli (gai lan)
- 1 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- water for boiling
- 4 T cooking oil (preferably canola or peanut oil)
- 3 slices fresh ginger
- 4 T minced garlic
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce ( or dark soy)

Preparation
Step 1
In a 5- to 6-quart covered pan over high heat, bring about 2 quarts water to a boil. Add sunflower oil, sugar, salt and broccoli and cook, uncovered, just until barely tender to bite, 2 to 4 minutes. Drain.
Heat garlic, ginger and oil in wok, for 30 sec then add drained broccoli and cook for 2 minutes.
Optional: a few drops of sesame oil added when serving brightens up this yummy dish.
