Thanksgiving Yams

  • 1/2 c Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 c Butter
  • 1/8 c water
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 c Pecans
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 can Yams in Syrup
  • Marshmallows


Preparation time 30mins
Cooking time 70mins


Step 1

Cook yams in boiling water about 15 min. (check every 5 min as so to not overcook) Drain and Cool.

In a small saucepan, melt butter, juice, brown sugar, salt, water, and cinnamon. While that is heating up, peel the potatoes and slice into chucks.

Place potatoes in baking dish. Pour melted mixture over potatoes (it will only cover 1lb of yams. Double recipe if more than 1lb)

Bake at 350 for 35 min. After 20 min add pecans and at the end, turn on the broiler and add the marshmallows. Broil for 5 min until marshmallows turn brown.
