deep dish pastry shell
lb. Italian sausage
lb. mushrooms or 2 jars of sliced mushrooms
oz. cheese (Gruyere or cheddar)
c. heavy cream
well beaten eggs
Preheat oven to 350. Bake pastry shell for 8 minutes. Set aside. In large skillet brown 1 lb. of sausage removed from the casing, stirring to break into small pieces. Remove sausage from drippings. Add mushrooms sliced. Cook and stir 5 minutes; drain. In large bowl combine sausage, mushrooms, shredded cheese, 1 c. heavy cream, 4 well-beaten eggs, and 1/4 tsp. of salt. Mix well. Turn into shell and bake 45 minutes.
