Ingredients
- pastry for one crust
- 1/2 cup sifted confectioners sugar
- 1 pkg (3oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 can(1 lb) sour pie cherries
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ***cool whip okay
- note-spread commercial pie filling instead if you want, any fruit variety or mix one small vanilla instant pudding with canned fruit of your choice

Step 1
prepare: pastry for one crust 9" pie.(graham cracker crust is also good)
Bake: 450 for 8-10 minutes until golden brown
Blend in small bowl: sifted confectionary sugar, softened cream cheese, vanilla and almond extract. Beat until light and fluffy, set aside.
Beat: whipping cream until thickened. Fold into cream cheese mixture. Turn into cooled baked pie shell. Chill until firm, 30-60 minutes.
drain 1 can sour pie cherries, reserving juice,set aside.
Combine: sugar, cornstarch, salt in saucepan. gradually add 1 tbsp lemon juice and the reserved cherry juice plus water to make 3/4 cup. Blend until smooth.
Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a bowl. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in cherries. Cool for 5 minutes.
Spoon over cream cheese filling. Chill until set, two to three hours before serving.
Note-strawberry glaze has ben a great success when fresh strawberries are in season.
