Thin Torte-Layer Cake

Directions: Position racks in the center and bottom third of the oven and preheat to 375°
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour , sifted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter , at room temperature
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 6 large eggs , at room temperature
- 3 cups milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder , preferably Dutch process
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter , cut up
- 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Pecan halves, for garnish
Sweet n Salty Fudge Bombs

1. Place dates, vanilla, and cocoa powder in the bowl of a food processor
- 1 c whole pecans
- 1 1/3 cups pitted dates
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons Penzeys Natural Cocoa Powder
- to garnish: coarse sea salt, unsweetened shredded coconut (toasted or untoasted)
Company Potatoes*****

- 6 potatoes
- 4 Tb butter
- 2 cups shredded cheddar
- 1 pint sour cream
- 1 Tb chopped green onion or chives
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 2 Tb butter for dotting and Paprika for sprinkling on top before baking.

- 2-8oz pkg. original crescent rolls
- 2-8oz pkg. cream cheese
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 pkg. Ranch Dressing(3T)

Balsamic Vinaigrette

Directions Beat the vinegar in a bowl with the sugar, garlic, salt and pepper until sugar and salt dissolves

- 2 teaspoons dark brown sugar as needed
- 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Salty Sweet Broccoli Salad

Directions: 1. Cook and crumble the bacon
- Ingredients:
- 1 bunch broccoli
- 1/2 medium red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup homemade mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

- 1 cup rice
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup Parmesan
Crockpot Ribs

Mix all herb and spice ingredients
- Dry Rub for Barbecued Ribs
- 8 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 5-6 lbs baby back ribs
- Sauce-
- bottled bbq sauce
- grape jelly
- make about 2 cups
Steamed Mussels with Spicy Red Pepper Aioli

Directions To make the aioli: Place the red pepper on an open flame or grill
- For the aioli:
- Ingredients
- 1 red pepper
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 to 2 tablespoons Vietnamese chili paste (recommended: Sambal Oelek)
- Salt
- 1 1/2 cups canola oil
- For the mussels:
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 small onions, finely diced
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 pounds mussels, debearded and rinsed
- 1 bottle dry white wine
- 4 slices baguette, cut on the bias
