  • 1/4 cup / 40 g cornstarch / cornflour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 - 2 tsp ground white pepper (I sometimes use 1 tbsp, I like the spiciness!)

  • 4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter (1/2 stick) at room temperature

  • 1/2 Cup Canned Evaporated Milk
  • 1 1/2 Teaspoons Each Grated Lemon and Orange Zest
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Grated Nutmeg
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Allspice
  • Miracle Flaky Lard Crust:

  • 1 1/3 Cups Plus 4 Teaspoons Pastry Flour or All-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Lard
  • 1/4 Cup Ice Water
  • 4 Teaspoons Cider Vinegar
  • Whole Wheat Flour for Rolling
