- For the cake:
- 200 g / scant 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 150 g / 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 100 g / 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into 6-8 pieces
- 3 medium apples, peeled, cored and cut into thin slices
- 2 large eggs
- 200 g / scant 1 cup heavy cream (35%), table cream (18%) or half and half cream (10%)
- 120 g / 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
- 100 g / 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
