  • 2 inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 3/4 tsp garam masala (Indian Spice Blend)

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1.5 pounds lean lamb steaks, cubed

  • 1 15-oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 small boxes raisins (about 1/4 cup)

  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
