- 1 gram ground allspice (about 1/4 teaspoon)
- 1 gram fine sea salt (about 1/4 teaspoon)
- 170 grams unsalted butter, melted (12 tablespoons; 1 1/2 sticks)
- FOR THE CAKE
- 170 grams unsalted butter, at room temperature (12 tablespoons; 1 1/2 sticks)
- 200 grams granulated sugar (about 1 cup)
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Finely grated zest of 1 lemon
- 325 grams all-purpose flour (about 2 1/2 cups)
- 10 grams baking powder (about 2 teaspoons)
- 3 grams baking soda (about 1/2 teaspoon)

Black Bean Soup - Kew Forest

Saute onion, carrots, celery & garlic in 5 tbs olive oil Add 1 gallon water & black beans
- 2 pounds black beans, dried (soaked-try not soaking first)
- 4 stalks celery, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- thyme
- chicken or veggie base i used "better than bouillion" veggie base
- 5 tablespoons olive oil (approx 1/3 cup)
Sweet and Spicy Sauce-Glaze

Bring all except sesame seeds to boil & stir occasionally until sugar is dissolved & liquid reduces & thickens
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ginger, minced
- 2 tablespoons green onions, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes - use less for less spicy (3/4 tsp)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted-garnish
