Start with "Tomato Canning Recipe" base

  • 4 quarts tomatoes, peeled and chopped (use jars from tomato canning recipe base)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 medium onions, chopped (one yellow & one red)
  • 2 red peppers, chopped
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 2 banana pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 c. white vinegar
  • 1/2 c. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 bunches green onion, chopped
  • 3 fresh limes, juiced
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped fine
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 6 cans tomato paste
  • season to tast with salt

  • Crust:
  • 2 Cups flour
  • 3/4 Cup shortening
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 Cup milk
  • Filling:
  • 5 Cups sliced, peeled apples (6-7 good sized apples)
  • 1 Cup sugar (more sugar may be needed if your apples are tart) we used 3/4 Cup sugar and 1/4 Cup VANILLA SUGAR
  • 2 TB. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. PENZEYS CINNAMON
  • 1 TB. butter
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten
