Heat a 6 quart stove top casserole or ovenproof pot and add the oil and the bay leaves
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 lb. beef stew meat
- 1 1/2 1 large yellow onion, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 tsp. dried rosemary
- 2-3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup beef stock
- 1/2 cup Guinness stout
- 1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
- 1/2 lb. carrots, sliced
- Salt and black pepper, freshly ground

In mixing bowl, beat potatoes, milk and rest of ingredients until fluffy
- TOPPING:
- 3 cups cold mashed sweet potatoes---can use canned
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. chopped pecans
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted.
- Topping recipe can be doubled.
Unstuffed Cabbage

Heat a lg. non-stick saucepan over medium heat
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 can (28oz) stewed tomatoes
- 1 8 oz can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 tsps. dried parsley
- 1 1/4 tsps. salt
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 small head cabbage, shredded, about 8 cups.
- 1 1/4 cups water
- Mashed potatoes and green beans, (optional)

- 1 qt. vodka sauce (recipe follows)

- 1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped

- 4 oz. golden Italian dressing
- 2 stems fresh basil, leaves cut in thin strips
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
- 1/2 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1/2 c. onions, coarsely chopped
- 6 oz mushrooms, quartered
- 1/2 tsp. fresh thyme
- 1/2 tsp. fresh oregano
- 1/2 tsp. fresh marjoram
- white pepper to taste
- 2 chicken bouilion cubes
- 1 1@ Tbsp. voda
- 2 Tbsp. white wine
- 1 1 /2 tsp. paprika
- 4 oz tomato paste
