Instructions FOR THE “STARTER”: In a small bowl, combine ingredients for the starter

- 1/3 cups sugar
- 1/3 cups flour
- 1/3 cups lukewarm milk, 90-100 F (32-38 C)
- 10 g (3 tsp) fresh yeast or 4-5 g (1 tsp) active dry yeast or 0.3 g (3/4 tsp) instant yeast

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

- 2 packages of sweet hawaiian rolls, 12 count, the small dinner roll looking ones

- 1 slice bread (broken or chopped finely)
- 1 egg
- 1 small vidalia onions or 1 small type sweet onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/2-2/3 cup whole milk or 1/2-2/3 cup half-and-half
- SAUCE
- 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 -4 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed firm (to taste)

- 1 can (8-ounce) refrigerated crescent rolls
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg, beaten

1. In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain
- ADDITIONAL INGREDIENT (for each batch of stew):
- 2 2 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 2 2 medium onions, chopped
- 4 4 4 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) stewed tomatoes, undrained
- 8 8 8 medium carrots, thinly sliced
- 4 4 4 celery ribs, thinly sliced
- 2 2 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 2 2 cups water
- 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 to 2 1 to 2 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 to 2 1 to 2 2 teaspoons pepper
- 1 1 1 cup water
- 2 2 20-30 3-cup to 3 20-30 minutes longer or until thickened. Freeze in 3-cup portions for up to 3 months.
- 3 3 To 24 to 5 frozen stew: Thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours. Transfer to a saucepan; add water. Cook until hot and bubbly. Yield: about 5 batches (15 cups total).
