All-Butter Pie Dough

The pie dough recipe from The Hoosier Mama Book of Pie
- 1-3/4 sticks (196 g) unsalted butter, divided
- 1 Tbsp (12 g) red wine vinegar
- 1/2 C cold water
- 2-1/4 C (333 g) all-purpose flour
- 2-1/4 tsp (6.5 g) kosher salt
- 1/2 Tbsp (6.5 g) granulated sugar
Banana Bread (Cooks Illustrated version)

- 1-3/4 C (8-3/4 oz.) unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 6 large very ripe bananas (about 2-1/4 lbs), peeled
- 8 Tbsp (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 C packed (5-1/4 oz) light brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 C walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped (optional) (but I never put nuts in my banana bread)
- 2 tsp granulated sugar

- 1/3 C soy sauce
- 1 (13-1/2 oz) can coconut milk
- 3/4 C cider vinegar
- 8 garlic cloves, peeled
- 4 bay leaves
- 2 tsp pepper
- 1 scallion, sliced thin
Turkey and Penne Casserole

A Weight Watchers recipe, from the book "My TurnAround Program Cookbook
- 3 C. whole-wheat penne
- 2 tsp. olive oil
- 1 lb. ground skinless lean turkey breast
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 28-oz can whole tomatoes, drained and broken up
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh oregano, or 2 tsp dried
- 1 C. part-skim ricotta cheese
- 1 C. shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
Swedish Meat Loaf (with Ground Turkey)

I'm no longer sure what newspaper this recipe came from -- possibly the Chicago Tribune, from the 1980s
- 1/3 C chopped mushrooms
- 1/4 C milk
- 1/2 medium onion, cut in chunks
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 C bread crumbs
- 1/2 tsp dried dill weed
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 C sour cream, optional (not really optional -- that's just what the recipe says)
BBQ Macaroni Salad

- Table salt
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped fine
- 1 rib celery, chopped fine
- 4 scallions, sliced thin
- 2 Tbsp cider vinegar
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 1 C mayonnaise
- 1/2 C barbecue sauce (Recipe says: "We like the sweet, smoky flavor of Texas Best or Bull's Eye barbecue sauce here, but feel free to substitute your favorite.")

- For the Meat Loaf:
- 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3/4 C bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2/3 C milk
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 Tbsp vinegar
- 1/4 C ketchup
- 3/4 tsp each salt and pepper
- 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
- 1-1/2 lbs ground turkey (or chicken)
- 3 slices turkey bacon (optional)
- For the Glaze:
- 1/2 C ketchup
- 1/4 C brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
