Cheese Straws

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F
- Three 10-ounce bricks sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded cold then left at room temperature
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Dash of garlic powder
- Cooking spray
- Special equipment: cookie press with a star tip
Carrabba's Bread Dipping Spice

This is a favorite with Italian-style grub
- 1 tablespoon minced basil
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (Italian is best)
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/2 teaspoon ground sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped rosemary
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon olive oil
- 1/8 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

- 1 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup wheat germ
- 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 cup sliced almonds
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

- 1 (7-ounce) package dried fruit bits, or 1 1/2 cups mixed dried fruit, finely chopped

Spinach Pie

1.Make the filling: In a large nonstick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons oil over medium-high heat
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 medium onions, chopped
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
- 6 packages frozen chopped spinach, (10 ounces each), thawed and squeezed dry
- 1 pound feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup plain dried breadcrumbs
