This salad has always been one of my favorites

  • 1 head 'hearts of romaine' Romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1-2 tsp fresh lemon juice, up to 1 Tbsp to thin dressing if desired (try white wine vinegar)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, sliced
  • 2 thick slices bacon, cooked, chopped

No Knead Bread Recipe is adapted from Mark Bittman of NY Times who got it from Sullivan Street Bakery

  • 3 cups bread flour (or 3 cups all-purpose + 3 Tbsp. vital wheat gluten)
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine table salt (or 3/4 tablespoon of kosher salt)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • Covered pot (five-quart or larger cast iron, Pyrex, ceramic, enamel...something that can go into a 450F oven.)
