  • 1 large can of chicken or 1/2 lb. cooked and shredded
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce plus some to drizzle
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 10 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups of cheddar cheese, shredded (we used sharp)
  • black pepper, to taste

In a deep heavy kettle cook bacon in 2 batches over moderate heat until crisp and transfer to paper towels to drain

  • 1/2 pound sliced bacon, cut crosswise into fourths

  • 1- 14 ounce can chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 recipe Creamy Stone Ground Grits, recipe below
  • Creamy Stone Ground* Grits
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cups stone ground white grits *I used regular grits, not stone ground.
  • 1 1/2-2 cups grated Cheddar
