Moist Apple Cake Recipe

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon
- SAUCE:
- 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups chopped peeled tart apples (about 3 medium)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup fat-free milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Slow-Cooker Ribollita

1. Combine all but last three ingredients in a 5-6 quart slow cooker
- 3 medium carrots, roughly chopped
- 3 stalks celery, roughly chopped
- 1/4 small head green cabbage, sliced
- 8 oz. pancetta, diced
- 1 cup dried cannellini or pinto beans, picked over and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 t. salt
- 1/2 t. pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 7 cups chicken stock
- 1-2 slices stale crusty bread, cubed
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Crispy Oven-Baked Bacon

Tips: 1.Don't pre-heat the oven! Make sure the oven is cold when you put the bacon in
- Here's How:
- 1 1 1 .Line a baking sheet with foil. This will make cleanup easier later.
- 2 2 to 400°F. bacon slices on the foil and place the baking sheet on the center rack of a cold oven. Close oven door. Turn oven on to 400°F. Walk away.
- 3 3 17 to 20 17 to 20 minutes later. As soon as the bacon is golden brown, but not excessively crisp, it's done. The exact time will depend on the thickness of the bacon slices, and also on how quickly your oven reaches the target temperature.

- 1 tablespoon dried thyme, crushed

- 2 racks pork spareribs (4-1/2 to 5 pounds each)
- Glaze:
- 1-1/2 cups chopped onion
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
- Juice and zest of 1 orange
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
