- 1/4 cup warm water (110 to 115 degrees)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 8 tablespoons butter or margarine - (1 stick) melted
- 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs room temperature
- 3 large egg yolks room temperature
- 4 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour - (to 5)
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg white slightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon turbinado (raw sugar) (or coarse brown sugar)
